Graduated from École Normale de Musique de Paris,Master's Degree. I am a Taiwanese flutist and pianist. Currently, I‘m based in Singapore and offer individual piano and flute lesson in English and Mandarin for students of all ages and levels. During my studies, I have acquired extensive teaching experience in multiple countries. I have collaborated with many different people during my life as a performer, including soloists with orchestras and chamber musicians. I am a piano teacher with over 30 years of experience, passionate about nurturing musical talent at every age and level. I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos. I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits. My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students with their Piano Exams like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grade 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas). I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old and my youngest one has 3 years old. They made great progress, I am sure you could do the same. I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano. I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation. I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons. CURRICULUM I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years. For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs. Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible. I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music. The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. Having a Master's degree in Jazz composition (Rotterdam), Alex designs the scores himself, making arrangements of pieces / songs in an accessible way, along with his method and exercises for guitar technique. The scores are written with a hybrid notation (music notation and tab notation), and with all the information necessary about the right and left hand. After having agreed on the pieces / songs to be worked on, the relevant score is shared and given at the lesson. The teacher goes through it, while he also plays it live to the pupil for even more reach. He then explains what needs to be clarified in order to prepare any homework. Finally, Alex creates a video tutorial about the piece or song that needs to be learned for the next lesson. This gives extra support when practising at home, in order to avoid any doubt and keep motivation up. A report is then created to keep track of what has been done as well as what needs to be worked on, in order to unlock technical requirements and complete a specific repertoire in a constructive and efficient way. Alex teaches in Rotterdam at home or at the pupil's own location ; lessons are in Dutch, English or French, for all ages and levels. The teacher mainly gives live lessons, where he works with his pupils on specific material (technique and repertoire). If for any reason a live lesson can't take place, it is of course possible to follow an online lesson. Lessons last 30 minutes or 45 minutes, weekly or biweekly.
