Hi! I’m Zina, a Greek language teacher and Spanish teacher currently based in Finland.

I lived in the Dominican Republic for over seven years, where I gained valuable teaching experience in a private bilingual school. I taught English to 3rd-grade children, working with Spanish-speaking students and teaching the main subjects in English. Living in a Spanish-speaking country for so many years also allowed me to develop my Spanish through everyday immersion, alongside my studies and language training.

For the past three years, I have been teaching Spanish online to adult students from different countries, ages and levels. My lessons focus on grammar, vocabulary, listening and, especially, practical communication. I adapt my lessons to each student’s needs and learning goals.

After moving to Finland, I also had the opportunity to teach Greek to Finnish-speaking adults at Kokkolan Seudun Opisto. This experience gave me a better understanding of the challenges Finnish learners may face when learning Greek as a foreign language.

I am currently studying Spanish Language and Culture at the Hellenic Open University (ΕΑΠ), further developing my academic knowledge of the Spanish language, linguistics and culture.

I enjoy teaching because I love languages and I genuinely enjoy helping students understand how a language works and become more confident using it.

For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above.

You might wonder why I teach both languages. Well, I am bilingual, with American and Swiss/French roots, and I currently reside in Ireland. To the uninitiated, a grammar book seems to be written in another language because the meaning of the words is incomprehensible. In a down-to-earth way, I'll translate the grammar into familiar words. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning while having a positive mindset.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.

Mes cours s’adressent aux enfants, aux adolescents et aux adultes, qu’ils souhaitent découvrir une langue, consolider leurs connaissances, améliorer leur expression orale ou écrite, préparer un examen ou utiliser la langue dans un contexte scolaire, professionnel ou quotidien.
